I was reading the Bible yesterday morning as part of my daily devotion when I received a WhatsApp message from my aunt: she asked me to assist my cousin in preparing a short devotional sharing. What transpired could be explained as coincidence, or… well, have a look see!
Christians believe in a speaking God… a God who delights to communicate with us. He is constantly speaking, even if we do not always perceive it. And the primary way in which God speaks to us is through His Word, the Bible.
A pastor used to say this, “If you wish to hear the voice of God, read the Bible. If you wish to hear the audible voice of God, read the Bible aloud.” He often says this in a humorous way, but the point is serious. If we do not spend any time in God’s Word, it is no wonder we feel as if God is silent.
But simply reading God’s Word is just the start, because that is not the end goal of God communicating with us. Instead, God always seeks a response from us. But that may be for a post at another time.
